Curt Pringle was elected to serve as Anaheim’s Mayor in November 2002. Since he took office, Anaheim has earned the distinction of being called a municipality with a “freedom-friendly” approach to governing – a spirit that has fostered greater personal, entrepreneurial and corporate initiative in the City. Among his policy successes, Mayor Pringle is particularly proud of the City of Anaheim’s first-ever Home Improvement Holiday, which waived all permit home improvement fees for Anaheim residents and resulted in over $28 million of individual reinvestment in the local economy.

In May 2004, Mayor Pringle led the council in approving an update to the City of Anaheim’s General Plan that included sweeping changes to the zoning code that will allow for the dramatic revitalization of the 807-acre Platinum Triangle which includes the Arrowhead Pond and Angel Stadium, the historic downtown area, and portions of West Anaheim.

Mayor Pringle brings many years of policy experience to the City of Anaheim, having served in the California State Assembly from 1988-90 and again from 1992-98. The independent California Journal rated Pringle as the “Best Problem Solver” and as the “Most Influential Leader” of the California State Assembly. In January 1996, in what was hailed by the Associate Press as “a victory for stability over chaos,” Pringle was elected Speaker of the California State Assembly where he presided until November 1996.

During his tenure in the State Assembly, Pringle served as the Republican Leader, Republican Caucus Chair, chairman of the Appropriations Committee, chairman of the Rules Committee and vice chairman of the Budget Committee. He also served on the Insurance, Governmental Organization, Banking, Local Government and Joint Legislative Budget Review Committees. Additionally, he served as a budget conferee in 1995, where he authored the 1995-1996 California State Budget.

Pringle was a key architect of California's historic, bipartisan welfare reform plan in 1997, and in 1996 he authored successful legislation to provide California businesses with a five-percent tax cut.

As a key voice for local government finance reform at the state and local level, Mayor Pringle played a pivotal role in the recent state budget negotiations with Governor Schwarzenegger. Mayor Pringle has also been sought out at the national, regional and local level to speak on policy issues such as affordable housing, transportation, planning and development, and local government finance.

In 2002, Mayor Pringle concluded a four-year term as a member of the Orange County Fair Board. Mayor Pringle also serves as honorary chairman for the Anaheim Challenge for Education, a non-profit foundation that has successfully raised over $1 million in scholarship funds to provide low-income Anaheim families the opportunity to send their child to the school of their choosing for 4 consecutive years.

In addition to his civic duties, Pringle runs Curt Pringle & Associates, a public relations, governmental affairs and consulting firm located in Orange County, California. Mayor Pringle also serves as an adjunct Political Science faculty member at the University of California, Irvine, where he teaches California Government.

A resident of the Anaheim/Garden Grove area for over 36 years, Mayor Pringle and his wife, Alexis, have two children, Kyle and Katie.
